LOTUS OF THE HEART
All is Welcome Here
Living in Love beyond Beliefs

I live on a lovely creek - just outside my door. Enjoying frog song this morning - and soon Lavender incense. What do you do to relax and breathe Life?

The impromptu notation captured my attention, as I looked over the note to my friend: "breathe Life." There is something intimate, close, something profoundly conscious about that. This in contrast to the unconscious way we are socialized to live - through technology we are inundated, if we are not consciously selective, to a plethora of manipulative, fruitless messages and images that will put and keep us asleep, unconscious - while we hypnotically entertained, consume an endless variety of sordid and vain representations and words. Likewise, we are exposed socially to the useless rantings and ramblings, the emotional drama, of persons who seem not able to see how lovely Life is, how pointless the emotional byways that distract us from Love.
How do we live among this miscellany of triviality - and oft the triviality is simply the mishandling of what is important, so as to capture the popular imagination, such as in politics? We need to choose wisely the attention we give and do not give. We need time apart, to breathe Life and know we are breathing Life and, thereby, be reminded that what we most need is as close as our breath, and closer.
The only alternative to a conscious life is not a life partly conscious and partly unconscious, but an unconscious life: while Life itself is conscious. And only in consciously being present can we open to give and receive the grace of togetherness beyond conventional sharing - which, more than not, is, to varying degrees, a facade of true intimacy, a surface defense mechanism against communion of the Heart.
Conscious living is, wonderfully, unconventional living. If you want to fit in, you must be asleep and not wake up. The awakened being is breathing Life, and he or she cannot prioritize fitting in. The aware being will notice the sense of discomfort, sometimes annoyance, his or her wakeful unconventionality brings to others. He or she comes to know that is what those who do not understand need. So, to live awakened does not mean to please or bring more comfort to others, but means to express authenticity, and this may lead to others experiencing, often not knowing why, a discomfort with the quiet, nameless Grace being communicated through the awakened being. However, your conscious living is a a quiet, unobtrusive invitation to others to live alive and breathing Life. I now, after over 20 years of engaging a wisdom Path of wakeful presence, find it interesting to notice how others around me respond or react to my simply being authentically, quietly, that I am.
For many years, I was befuddled by the attractions and reactions to my simply being among others a means of Presence, a sacrament of Grace. No more, as witnessing of it all simply takes place silently, sometimes with a sense of humor. I have learned how persons respond to Grace has nothing to do with me personally, for Life and living consciously is not a personal matter.
